Like many writers, Michael Hawkins has a nocturnal approach to writing children’s stories
and many of his ideas have come about in the middle of the night when his imagination
is most active. He illustrates his own stories and over the years has worked on advertising
campaigns for local newspapers, designed greetings cards and had a variety of commissions.
The idea for his first children’s book ‘The Snowman who hated the cold’ may have come from
his very own dislike for cold weather.
Michael lives and works in east London near Epping Forest, where he likes to get lost on
